CFP: ELOPE Special Issue: The Role of Artificial Intelligence in English Studies

We are pleased to announce a new thematic issue of the ELOPE Journal, planned for June 2025, which will be dedicated to exploring the role of Artificial Intelligence in the field of English Studies. As AI continues to revolutionize various sectors, its impact on linguistics, literature, translation, and English didactics is becoming increasingly significant. This special volume intends to examine the diverse ways AI is reshaping traditional approaches to these disciplines, opening new aspects for research, teaching, and practice.

The guest editors, Tomaž Onič, Mladen Borovič and David Hazemali, warmly invite scholars, researchers, and practitioners to submit original research articles, case studies, theoretical papers, and reviews that investigate the intersection of AI and English Studies. Topics of interest may include but are not limited to the following:

  • AI-driven linguistic analysis and computational linguistics
  • The use of AI in literary analysis, text mining, and digital humanities
  • AI-assisted translation tools and their implications for translation studies
  • Applications of AI in language learning, teaching, and assessment
  • Ethical considerations surrounding the use of AI in research and pedagogy
  • The role of AI in creative writing and literary production
  • AI-based tools for enhancing writing skills and academic communication
  • Machine learning and its impact on language research methodologies

Submissions may address theoretical frameworks, empirical research, or practical case studies, highlighting the potential of AI to transform both research and pedagogy in this field.

Submission Guidelines
The language of contributions is English. Manuscripts should be between 5,000 and 8,000 words in length, with an abstract of not more than 150 words. They should follow the author guidelines available here, and should be submitted via the ELOPE platform. Any technical inquiries can be sent to Andrej Stopar (andrej.stopar@ff.uni-lj.si).

Deadline for Submissions
Finalized manuscripts should be submitted by 31 January 2025.
